The President of the Abuja Writers Forum (AWF) Dr Emman Shehu has said the thinking that science is more important than arts is the greatest fallacy in the world.
Dr Shehu, who made this known at the public presentation of Beautiful Thief & Other Stories authored by Alex Abesadu Byanyiko, said writing and publishing are catalysts to development.
He said, “the thinking that science is more important than arts is the greatest fallacy that you can find in the world.”
He urged Nigerians to support the teaching and learning of literature so that the country will be better for it.
The book reviewer Mr Iheanyi Iwuofor said the use of vernacular in simple flowing prose was encouraging in many ways for the advancement of Nigeria’s literature.
“Beautiful Thief and other stories is a mix of the sweet, the sour and the seductive in a stirring literary picnic. He is promising for this; a searching eye, even at his most mundane, as in ‘Aflame’ and the extra cheeky ‘Boys can be broken too.’
“He tugs at us for social consciousness in the anti-corruption stories, though they only sound inspirational, not factual, in a morally blunted society like ours,” he said.
The Chairman of the Occasion, Ezekiel Dalhatu Musa who Andrew Gwani represented urged the author to keep up his good works.
The author appreciated several people that supported him and made the work a success.
