As the Political Campaign for 2023 General Election officially kickstarts on, Wednesday 28th September, 2022. The APC Professional Women Network is set to embark on Grassroot Engagement for market women, artisan and youths. The engagement will be through Door-to-Door Campaign Awareness by giving back to the vulnerable in the society, Sensitization for PVC Collection, Empowerment of Indigent Students, as well as attention and provision for the most vulnerable school children with tattered uniforms and instructional writing materials in order to reunite them back to schools across the 36 States & FCT.
The exercise is tagged EDUCATION IS KEY WITH TINUBUSHETTIMA says the President of the group Engr. (Dr.) Atinuke Wuraola Owolabi,
This communique is contained in a meeting she held with all the 36 State Coordinators and FCT Abuja inclusively.
Grassroot engagement as one of its core projects is reaching out to the association of trades and artisans and market women. The engagement is a veritable avenue to make us know their plight and see how we can proffer solutions before and after elections.
We have come to realise that these sets of people are very important in the society and they should not be neglected or ignored. The monarchial sector (Chiefs, Baales, Igwe and sultanate) is also very key.
Going forward, it’s imperative we embark on Door-to- Door sensitization and mobilization for PVC collection by providing the much required logistics. We are the Professional Ambassadors of Asiwaju and Shettima, we shall make sure we carry everyone along as we move with the train of great future of our fatherland, Nigeria. Every vote matters and must count. Asiwaju deserves the best and we must support him because all politics are local and we must play it regardless of our exposure or formal profession.
She said, “Education is key, and one of the group’s targets of universal literacy and numeracy (a major component in acquiring knowledge and valuable skills in the learning environment) is in line with SDG 4 of the United Nation 2030 Agenda which aims to provide children and young people with quality and easy access to education plus other learning opportunities. Some of these children are very good but couldn’t get sponsors to train them. Some come to school with tattered uniforms and don’t even have instructional materials which automatically affect their performances in schools.
When you move around the streets, you will be saddened to see hordes of pupils walking to schools dressed in ragged uniforms with torn rubber sandals and empty bags but unfortunately, it is not only sad but very sympathetic seeing public schools pupils going through elementary education in extremely poor and unhygienic conditions.
It is on the premise as professionals, we are privileged to go to school. We want to produce more professionals that will add value to the human capital of this great Nation called Nigeria in the six geo-political zones.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu knows how to build Capacity, he’s a man that believes so much in Education and as Professionals in politics, our core mandate is to change the narratives and mindset of people about politics. Politics has to bring succour to the citizens and make life conducive while the school uniform initiative will be done under the trades and craftsmen where tailors among them can be engaged. Rural women would also be empowered through the initiative because these set of people tend to listen to us because they know that we are women and Professionals who will never call black for blue”, she said.
Owolabi enjoins all political office holders and corporate world like Banks, Telecommunications, Oil & Gas companies and other enthusiastic individuals who are passionate and interested in the initiative for collaboration to start up a Fashion Design Factory specifically dedicated to sewing of school uniforms across the federation, while other expenses needed to provide schools shoes, and instructional writing materials are also provided for public schools across the country in order to support the vision.
The level of poverty is huge in the country, since we’ve decided to come into politics we will continue to touch lives with our earnings as APC Professional Women Network…it’s all about Good Governance where every Nigerian feels its goodness..
