My friend Abdullahi Jalo believes Atiku has faced calculated calumny from political class.
I really don’t think so though. I think his behavior has been the biggest problem.
*Bola Tinubu* doesn’t speak Hausa, yet Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Ganduje who are not in sync politically prefer him to Atiku.
Simply, because they believe he can stick to promises and agreements made.
Atiku, in his long political career, has dribbled so many people, North & South, *PDP&APC,* that not a few politicians distrust him.
In 2007, Bola Tinubu/Bisi Akande gave him the AC platform to contest. Within months of losing, Atiku was already romancing *OBJ* and tried to return to PDP.
Atiku so blindsided *AC* leaders, that Akande said Atiku could never go to Abeokuta to beg OBJ. Alas, he didn’t know Atiku went with Oyinlola already.
Painfully for them, the AC had electoral cases against the PDP in Tribunals from Edo,Ondo(LP), Ekiti, Osun.
Not long after this, Atiku decamped to PDP leaving Tinubu and others in the lurch.
As Fate would have it, the AC won back their cases step-by-step. Edo, Ekiti, Osun, include Ondo LP. The wave made them win Oyo and Ogun in 2011.
And suddenly, Tinubu who only had a single Governor (Fashola) in 2007, had 6 in 2011, because he persevered.
*Atiku lost to GEJ at the PDP Primaries for 2011.*
By 2013, Atiku was looking to join APC which Bola Tinubu, Buhari and ANPP had started, to form a united opposition against PDP.
Of course, we all know what happened at the APC primaries of 2014, those Governors with likes of Tinubu banded together to give it to Buhari. They were wiser.
And in true Atiku style, he decamped again after elections, back to PDP again.
Perhaps, if Atiku had stayed through to a course, say stay in *AC/ACN* he might have been President in 2015.
But, he was thoroughly impatient.
And now, he has issues with the likes of *NYESOM WIKE* in PDP.
The APC apparathick are determined to work for Tinubu.
NNPP leaders like Kwankwaso say, if they won’t win, they’ll prefer Tinubu wins.
So, it’s not really a campaign of calumny against him, as to his attitude himself.
He has dribbled a whole lot of people in his long political career. This is pay back time for Atiku.
