The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed an Osun State indigene, Bayo Ojeyinka, as a permanent secretary in the state civil service.
Ojeyinka is among the 18 new permanent secretaries appointed by the governor.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Anytime, who made the announcement in a statement on Friday, said the appointments were in furtherance to the reforms agenda of the governor to ensure transparency, accountability and optimal delivery.
Ojeyinka has been in the Anambra State civil service since 1995 when he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state.
At the end of the service year, he was awarded the best-serving corps member in the state and got automatic employment in the civil service.
Speaking on his appointment, Justinian said: “I am so excited to be considered. I don’t see this as a right but rather a rare privilege because so many brilliant officers also merited the promotion.
“I thank Mr Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, for this honour, and Ndi Anambra for all their love, kindness and support in my 29 years of living in Anambra State.
“I will repay the state with increased efficiency, productivity, transparency and fairness in my work.
“I thank my colleagues too, the Head of Service, Her Honour, Barrister Mrs Theodora Igwegbe for her wonderful support. I promise to live up to the great expectations.
His appointment breaks the traditional practice of reserving top civil service positions for indigenes and demonstrates the governor’s willingness to utilise talent from all corners of Nigeria.
