…Urges Nigerians to be patriotic

Mayor of Urhoboland and head of the Association of Family Mayoral Crown (AFMC), Eshanekpe Israel, also known as Akpodoro, has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu back from his two-week vacation.

Akpodoro expressed hope that the President used this break to identify non-performing members of his cabinet and take action to remove them.

During a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja over the weekend, the Mayor expressed his excitement over Tinubu’s healthy return and urged Nigerians not to wish the President ill, pointing out that he was democratically elected in the 2023 presidential poll. He referenced the biblical adage, “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” in emphasizing this point.

“Now that the President is back, he should expedite action in sacking all non-performing Ministers,” Akpodoro said. He accused certain ministers of deliberately underperforming to sabotage Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Akpodoro called for a cabinet reshuffle, suggesting that fresh talent is needed to help the President achieve his vision for the nation. He emphasized that Tinubu cannot do it alone and needs capable hands to assist in building a stronger, more unified, and functional Nigeria.

He further noted that some ministries play crucial roles and should not be managed by underperforming individuals, stressing the readiness of younger Nigerians to contribute to national development.

Akpodoro also urged Nigerians from all sectors—students, labor unions, market women, civil society organizations, and more—to remain patient with the government. He called on the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other relevant bodies to better communicate the policies and programs of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the public.

According to the Mayor, it is the responsibility of government agencies to explain these policies to Nigerians to counteract misinformation and prevent agents of discord from spreading fake news.
