The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has secured a landslide victory, winning all 14 local government chairmanship positions and all 147 councillorship seats in the local government elections held on Saturday.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Bala Aliyu Gusau, at the Commission’s headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.
Immediately after announcing the results, Gusau presented certificates of return to the newly elected chairmen.
He noted that the elections witnessed a large voter turnout and described the exercise as peaceful and well-organized.
“ZASIEC has effectively discharged its constitutional mandate of planning, organizing, coordinating, and conducting local government elections in Zamfara State,” he stated.
He also commended the electorate for their peaceful conduct during the elections, which were held across all 14 local government areas in the state.
“The exercise was conducted peacefully, and the Commission deeply appreciates the orderly manner in which the people participated in the voting process,” Gusau concluded.
