Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti has appealed to Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu in his avowed determination to ensure remarkable turnaround in Nigeria.
Oyebanji also enjoined Nigerians to stop making negative comments and confessions about Nigeria, saying that the country was on the path to economic recovery and prosperity.
According to him, Tinubu means well for Nigerians with his reforms which have been yielding expected dividends.
The governor stated these at the 2025 Inter-faith Thanksgiving Service held at the main theatre of Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre, Ado Ekiti on Thursday.
He said Nigerians should be grateful to God for giving them a courageous leader in person of Tinubu, who, he said, was not afraid of taking decisions that were in the overall interest of the masses.
Oyebanji also used the opportunity of the service to restate his commitment to working harder for the development and prosperity of Ekiti.
While stating that he had no excuse not to live up to the expectations of the people of the state, the governor said that God had prepared him well for the job with the experience he had garnered in governance over the years.
He attributed the recent increase in federal allocations to the state to the magnanimity of the president, who approved increment in allocations to states after the fuel subsidy removal.
Oyebanji said that the increase in monthly allocations had resulted in increase in the salaries of civil servants and other welfare packages for citizens who are not on government payroll as well as the ongoing and completed projects in the state.
He urged kind-hearted Ekiti sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora to emulate two prominent legal luminaries, Chiefs Afe Babalola and Wole Olanipekun, by mobilising support for the state government, leveraging their influence, resources and goodwill.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Babalola and Olanipekun, both Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), are the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), and former President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) respectively.
According to the governor, the two prominent Ekiti indigenes have been consistent in their support for the state, adding that more of such support from other kind-hearted individuals would be appreciated.
NAN reports that the service featured songs of praise, readings from the Bible and Qur’an as well as sermons and prayers by Muslim and Christian clerics. (NAN)
